Is t·mining based on neural network technology?
Yes and no. Yes, because like neural nets, the software learns a task by
looking at examples. No, because some 200-1000 examples are usually sufficient
to teach the machine, whereas neural nets often require millions of examples.
What part of the software will be running where?
Eidetica will run the "high tech", but also the "heavy" parts of your
application such as the index repository and the interface back-ends that
support search and mining processes.
The actual search interface, along with its customizable look and feel, is
also served by Eidetica when you choose the "full service" model. In this
case, Eidetica can also design these pages, on the basis of existing style
templates. In the "protocol service" model, Eidetica will only host the
technical parts of the service and your application server platform (such
as iPlanet or Apache with an extension like PHP or Zope) will provide the
web pages.
Small modules that ensure delivery of new information to Eidetica's
indexers, can also run at your site. In most situations, where the
intranets or databases are operated by web servers such as Lotus
Domino(tm) and Microsoft Information Server(tm) or Site Server(tm), there
are standard solutions for timely updates to the indexes.
